Midspeak's idea is simple: the friction of the foreign language disappears at the read layer, not the write layer. You always write in the language you think in. We translate it to English on the wire. The reader always reads English, and can hover any word to see its meaning in their own native language.

Built for privacy

Profiles only show your country, native language, English level, and how many people you've practiced with. Nothing else is public — no phone number, no real name unless you choose it, no message history shared with anyone but you and the friend on the other side.
