What we collect
When you sign in with Google we receive your email and a stable Google account identifier. We use the email to recognize you on return; we never share it. We do not request access to your contacts, drive, or any other Google data.
You provide a display name, country, native language, and self-declared English level on first use. You may also write a short bio. All of these can be edited or removed from your settings.
What we store
We store the messages you send and receive so that you can scroll back. Messages are accessible only to you and the participant on the other side. We do not display them publicly and we do not sell them.
We store every word you hover into a personal vocabulary list, visible only to you.
What's public
Your public profile shows: display name, country, native language, English level, bio, and a count of distinct people you've practiced with. No message history, no email, no real name unless you choose to use it as your display name.
Translation
Messages and hovered words are translated by an AI model running on our own servers. The model does not retain training data from your messages.
Billing
We use PayPal for billing. PayPal stores your payment details; we never see your card or bank information. We receive only a subscription identifier and its status.
Deletion
You can delete your account from settings at any time. Deletion removes your profile, messages, vocabulary list, and subscription record. Backups are purged within 30 days.
